Shameful moment of 2008
So Brad and I have been jonesing for season five of "Beverly Hills 90210" for a few months now. We finally decided it'd be OK to use on of our Target gift cards to buy ourselves a little early Christmas present.
Well, I decided to run into Target before my soccer game last night (I had, like, 10 minutes to spare before I was supposed to meet my carpool).
I run in, dodge shopping carts and little kids and am frantically searching the TV on DVD aisle and all I see is seasons one and six.
As I'm about to ask a sales associate for assistance locating season five, a woman picks up a copy of season one and says, "Are people still watching this crap?"
Sadly, I left the Target empty-handed and a little bit red-faced.

News from YorkPa
Hi family,
I know I'll see many of you on Saturday (which will be totally fun), but I just wanted to drop in and say hi. After much soul searching and brain-picking, Brad and I decided that we're going to start looking for a house. We're meeting with a mortgage lender (and hopefully a realtor) on Monday to start the proceedings.
Unfortunately, York is inconveniently located in Pennsylvania. But the cost of living is pretty cheap (so if any of my siblings are looking to relocate into a more serene, pastoral sort of place...just miles away from Amish people, consider yourself invited.
That's all for me.
Love you all!

On Top of the Rock in NYC
Brad and I went to New York City on Sunday to see a show by this comedian we like. After the show we headed over to Rockefeller Center to see the tree and get really, really close with thousands of our closest friends. We took the elevator to the top of the building and got an amazing view of the city. Fun fun!

Hellllllooo Hallers!
Let's see....I miss my family terribly. I really am looking forward to seeing everyone on Thanksgiving. So, what's new....Well after 2 and some change years of living in a "group house" in McLean VA, Lukas and I are fleeing the nest! That's right...Come Janurary 1st, Lukas and I will have our 1st apartment on our own, as a married couple. Not a whole hell of alot more going on right now. I am still in school (still maintaining an "A" in the class, and hoping to take 2 classes next semester...as long as I can get some finacial aid action...cross my fingers)....Lukas is still working at good ol Balduccis, and doing his side job actions (building programs, and writing code...something like that)...Then there is Kafka. What can I say about the little guy? He is growing so very quickly. Just last week, he got his 1st Rabies, and Bordetella shots for the year, and the big "snip snip" is right around the corner! Lukas is not as excited about Kafka getting neutered as I am (It is my impression, that Lukas thinks that he is "betraying" Kafka in some way, by getting Kafka "snipped"...but whatever) Kafka is also, flourishing in his training...He has learned sit quite well, and lay down, and he waits before he eats his food (The key word for him getting to eat the food is "release"). Kafka is currently learning another neat trick called "drop it"!..He is not the best at it, and to be honest if your running after him screaming "drop it" he will do the opposite and run faster, but hey, it's one brain cell at a time right? So, that's my update on our little family....Oh! I almost forgot...The kitty...Lil old WTF. She is miserable. She hides in the living room away from human contact, and most especially from Kafka. When Kafka does bump into her in the house, she screams bloody cat murder, and tries to punch him with her declawed kitty mitts! It's a great show to watch when the internet is down...So yeah, that's the update. I hope you guys are doing well and Lukas and I are pumped about seeing you all on Thanksgiving.....Kafka will most likely be with us...cause well, he is our baby boy, and we cannot crate our baby all day. We love you guys! Woof Woof (that's Kafka) Meoooowww! (WTF) SMOOCHES

Hey fam-
I'm telling it on the mountain!!! Wanted to brag on my chillun' a little bit. First report cards came out the other day and all 5 kids have all a's and b's. Finn had straight a's. His teacher also taught Hannah and asked me if all of my kids were like those two!! In my head I was thinking-"NO!, Thank God!" She described Finn as "Silent", not merely "quiet". Sawyer's teacher tells me he is her sanity-saver in class and she talked about how he helps her keep his classmates motivated and focused and how at the end of the day he is the last to leave so he helps her clean up. She also mentioned how she goofs off with him and I think she was worried he would think she was strange. I told her he was used to strange women and he probably thinks we are all crazy! Scout's teacher also described him as quiet and said he LOVES anything that involves art. Betti Liegh just returned from a trip to MEPS and has been Officially sworn into the Air Force for the first time! She was able to lift 90lbs from a squat into a locked hold abover her head- WHOAH! Last but not least Sawyer is playing tommorrow in the all-star game- it looks like he will play in the linebacker spot- he is so pumped it is very cute! There is some talk of the winning team of the all-stars going on to play Prince Williams' winning all-star team. I think the issue here is that the coaches and dads are having a hard time letting go of another season of football. Well I guess that is enough for now- Love You All!

We're ba-ack
Hi everyone. Brad and I made it back to Lewisberry late last night so some very happy kitties and a brand new kitchen cabinets courtesy of Kristi.
Our honeymoon was a ton of fun. St. Kitts is absolutely beautiful and the people there are so sweet. There were goats, monkeys, a Caribbean Fanny and a Caribbean Bart. We climbed a volcano, snorkeled, hung out poolside, danced at a beach bar, it was good times. Can't wait to see you all again soon. Thanks for everything you all did to make our wedding so special. I'm still glowing. Love you all.

Old Rag Mountain
The story goes--Laura had mentioned to me that Hannah wanted to climb "Old Rag". In turn i mentioned it to Dad and he said he would like to hike Old Rag with Hannah.
I spoke to Laura on Sunday about a possible date and we came up with the idea of hiking Thanksgiving Morning.
I am throwing the idea out in case others would like to join us. We will certainly have a "quilt-free" eating that day.

Weekend Happenings
Hi Everyone,
I spent my weekend working as have others. I got off early todya so i actually saw the sun on my way home--it hasn't been out since Wed.
Stephen, i hope you did not spend the weekend moping in your room--i have an article to send you about Eddie Royal--so check your mailbox this week if you are leaving your room by then.
Michael--i hope Ike was gentle in your neck of the woods--i still can not believe there will not be more deaths--that looked scary.
Laura, how did the football games go at your house this weekend? Does Hannah attend the games and cheer her brothers on???
Sarah, thanks for the info from the "star" re: Sarah Palin--i was going to watch an interview on Fox tonight but once again i have managed to mess up the TV.
Susan, did you get your housework done?? I moved Jack's basket over by the woodstove so he will not be cold on cool nights---he doesn't seem to mind--i notice during the day lately he has been napping on our bed!
Jennifer, Hope the babies are providing you plenty of entertainment.
What is the latest funny thing,
Hope everyone has a happy, uneventful week with family and friends.
I am walking first thing and then 2 of us are going to plant daffadils down by the school bus shelter--then i may work the latter part of the shift.
love/hugs

Steve is headed to Texas
Hi everyone, Steve just called to let me know he was heading to Texas to help out with hurricane relief efforts. He wasn't sure that he'd have his phone with him, but he wanted to make sure we all knew where he was. That's all!
Random messaging
Hi family,
Those messages that I left were actually for work stuff. I forgot that I'd set up the program I'm using to put my updates on this blog, too. So...that's why they're so random. We're using this program called Utterz were you can create audio, photo and video files using your phone and send them to the Web. So...if Sarah were to, say, have video on her phone of Kafka she could send the video through Utterz and we could watch it on Go Tell it on the Mountain.
The ones I sent were for a blog we do at the paper called All's Fair, which covers the annual York Fair, and for our entertainment blog.
At any rate, that's probably more information than you needed about my job. The messages will probably continue showing up on this blog just cuz I don't want to re-set my account.
Love you all.
Sue

Posting probs
Hi everybody, not sure who all saw it, but Michael left a note earlier today saying we'd be deleting his posts and that he took issue with it ... well he used different language to describe his feelings about it.
I think I'm the only one who can erase posts on this site ... and I haven't erased any, until today when I deleted Mike's post because I thought it was hurtful. This site is supposed to be a fun way for us to keep in touch with each other and share video and stuff. Nobody is out to get anyone. And there's no need to get on and start being overdramatic or oversensitive. If you have problems like that, it's probably better to call someone, instead of putting it in a place where kids can potentially read it.
Mike, when I went to edit posts I saw that you had a couple of drafts with just some HTML coding and maybe a word or two. Neither had shown that you had tried to post them. I'm not sure if those were what you were concerned about ...
At any rate, if you're having trouble getting anything posted, just let me know and I'll try to help you out. My e-mail address is seh129@yahoo.com.
